I always get happy when I read stories about wine’s health benefits. Two recent articles inspired me to look for more healthy wine news. I hope you enjoy what I found.
I just read an article about the sad fact that Mavericks player Amar’e Stoudemire is no longer taking wine baths. According to the NY Daily News, his 40-minutes baths — a mixture of red wine and water — were “a rejuvenation … [allowing him to] create more circulation in [his] red blood cells.” A red wine bath? Today’s topic is Asian Flush, the experience many Asians (and a handful of non-Asians) get when drinking wine or other alcoholic beverages. Asian Flush is that very uncomfortable feeling of extreme heat and redness that is something other than a hot flash ☺
I can remember being at a party in my early 20s and having my Asian friend Ken lodge himself into the freezer to cool off. We all got a kick out of seeing him do this, and we talk about the experience even to this day.

- It raises good cholesterol
- It reduces bad cholesterol
- It reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks
- It reduces the occurrence of kidney stones in women
- It is enjoyable!
Can people who don’t love wine get the same benefits from drinking grape juice or eating grapes?
