If you work for a non-profit, you undoubtedly spend a lot of time trying to figure out the best fundraisers to do. If you’re looking for a memorable fundraiser, a wine tasting might be just the ticket for you.
How Does a Wine-Tasting Fundraiser Work?
Wine-tasting fundraisers are simple. But they do require some work on your part. Below I’ve outlined all the different
Fundraiser Tastings Are Virtual
Right now, I’m doing my fundraiser wine tastings virtually by Zoom. Depending on your schedule for the event, the tasting will last between 40 minutes and 80 minutes.
Coming up with the Date
We will come up with a date for your tasting.
Seinding Invitations
I will help you come up with the language to use for your invitation. You will send invitations to all the normal people you reach out to for your fundraisers, of course excluding people under 21 years old. You will invite them to sign up for the tasting. In the invitation, you will offer a sweet wine pack, a dry wine pack and an all-red pack. In the sign-up form, people will need to tell you their:
- Wine pack preference
- Phone number
- Billing address
- Shipping address, if different
- Birthdate
- Credit card number and expiration date
We will also include in the invitation a list of the appetizers we recommend for the tasting.
Emailing One Week Before the Event
One week before the event, you will send a reminder email that includes the Zoom link and the food recommendations.
The Wine Packs
Typically, my fundraiser consists of three-bottle wine packs, but we can make them four bottles, if you prefer. The 3-bottle packs can be as low as $65 (including tax and shipping) and as high as $120 (again, including tax and shipping). You will mark the packs up so that you make money on each pack that is ordered. A lot of non-profits mark their $65 pack up to $100 and their $120 pack up to $160.
The Paperwork
I will need you to send me a spreadsheet that includes each person who ordered, their phone number, their billing address, their shipping address, if different, their birthdate, their credit card number and their credit card expiration date. I will enter the orders into my system. WineShop At Home, the company I represent, will ship the appropriate kit to each person who signed up.
My Contribution to Your Fundraiser
I will donate 20% of the proceeds from the tasting to your organization. I will keep the tasting open for two weeks to allow people to place additional orders for the wines they tried.
